While I was hanging out at my usual weekend spot at The Curve, I decided to visit the much-talked-about latest concept cafe/bakery to hit KL, i.e. Cupcake Chic Cafe, Malaysia’s first cupcakery. When I stepped into the store, I was overwhelmed with a sense of dejavu, something similar I’ve seen somewhere.
Made some search and voila! See some similarities?

Sprinkles Cupcakes first opened in Beverly Hills in 2005. Since then, they have grown with several outlets in US. Some of their famous regulars include Katie Holmes and Tyra Banks. Their top selling flavour is Red Velvet, and have also been featured in the press including Oprah.

A little overpriced for originality, don’t you think?
But above all that, Cupcake Chic’s Butter Pecan cupcake is sooo yummy!

hey, did u just took my photos without my permission ??
I didn’t remove your photo acknowledgement or source. The photos are all given links back to your blog. But I’ll remove them if you disallow.
haha..Cupcake Chic busted!
Dont fancy their cupcakes. Too sweet. but now i know they totally copied the whole idea from someone else, i’m disgusted.
oh my god. so not original!
find your own identity lah cupcake chic…
lapsap!
good one natasha. more ppl should know about this.
aysh! pathetic!
what’s the big deal?
Am no favour to cupcake chic cos they taste so-so
Before you diss it’s just a cupcake if you are a lover you’ll like it anyway
Perhaps the franchise is too expensive for them to bring in hence the emulation and most cupcakes design copies others!
Wondermilk and other copies too I believe…
Malaysians so easily diss your own country and countrymen. After KLIA was built and the taxi system worked so poorly… there was public uproar and people scolded the management and government for being silly (in attempting to do something original). They suggested that by copying Singapore’s Terminal 2… it would have been a guaranteed success.
So either way also… Malaysia cannot win. So we always lose… because we put ourselves in this position.
Oooh but wait… strangely… it is kinda okay for Malaysians to watch pirated movies…
OMG!…it’s not a big deal? how can you say its not a big deal!…from menu design, website, copywriting… even the name CUPCAKE CHIC (fyi….there’s a http://www.cupcakechicutah.com)i mean…is there anything in that store is like totally home-grown!…it’s like Petaling Street in there.
come on ms j…(joyce-owner of the store if i’m not mistaken) don’t start blaming others…everybody is pointing at you right now!
*i think you should stick to banking
